PRECISION RIFLE COURSE (PRC)

Designed for shooters committed to advancing their long-range marksmanship, this comprehensive five-day course covers the fundamentals and application of precision rifle shooting. Students will learn the history of the scoped rifle, equipment selection and maintenance, ballistic theory, scope operation (MIL or MOA), range estimation, wind analysis, and target engagement at extended distances.

 

Training includes unsupported and tripod-supported shooting, alternate firing positions, and optional night shoots. Throughout the program, students will build the knowledge and confidence needed to accurately engage targets at distances reaching 1,000 yards and beyond. The course culminates in an Open Range Day, where participants apply their skills by engaging targets from close range out to 1,200 yards.

Precision Rifle Course (Levels I, II, III) 

Course Topics & Skills Covered

  • History of the scoped rifle and modern advancements

  • Choosing the correct rifle, optic, mount, cartridge, bullet, suppressor, break, etc.

  • Weapons care, cleaning, and maintenance

  • Fundamentals of Precision Rifle Marksmanship

  • Rifle and scope manipulation with the use of mils and/or Minutes of Angle (MOA)

  • Range Estimation Techniques (RET) & Unknown Distance (UKD) target engagement

  • Known Distance (KD) target engagement out to 1,000 yards

  • LASER Range Finder (LRF), ballistic calculator (Kestrel and/or Hornady 4DOF) and chronograph application

  • Reading, understanding, and calling wind

  • Unsupported and tripod-supported shooting positions

  • Internal, external, and terminal Ballistics

  • Alternate shooting positions (engaging targets from barricades)

  • Rapid Target Engagement (RTE) techniques and drills

  • Optional night shoot. Shoot your own optic or demo some of ours.

  • Open Range (two hours) on Day 5 and engage targets out to 1,200 yards!

Equipment Requirements:

  • Bolt-action (preferred) or semi-automatic rifle and two, 10-round magazines

  • Magnified rifle optic, w/ mount or rings, level and a bipod

  • 600 rounds of match-grade ammunition (22 ARC-30 cal magnum)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing for day/night & changing weather conditions

  • Optional; Bring an extra rifle, pistol, ammo for after-hours range time
